Our Mission

First Steps, a ministry of Fresno First Baptist Church, is a Christ-centered learning facility whose goal is to train children in a loving and caring environment.  First Steps partners with their families so children will develop in all areas of life: academic, emotional, physical, social and spiritual.

First Steps has been operating since July 2002, and currently has about 35 children enrolled.  We have an on-going Open Door Policy – Parents, family and friends, you are more than welcome to drop in anytime!  You will be comfortable and appreciated.  As part of our mission is to work with families, we enjoy parent participation whenever possible.

First Steps FAQ’s

• We are licensed by the State of CA Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division (Facility # 103801912)
• Staff consists of 4 full time and 2 part time employees, including Director Paula York
• We are licensed for 60 full-time children from 2-12 years old
• We accept full-time, part-time and drop-in students
• Breakfast, Lunch and Afternoon snack is provided
• Potty training is available
• We are happy to work with government funding (subsidized) programs, such as Supportive Services, CalWorks, etc.
• All children participate in fun, education activities throughout the year, such as dancing, outdoor water games, field trips in the community and much more.
• Come anytime to observe our amazing staff and precious students in action
