e-Bible Reading Plan

e-Bible Reading Plan

This week we got to read half of the longest of the Psalms - Psalm 119. This is a fascinating Psalm because this psalm is an acrostic poem; the verses of each stanza begin with the same letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Every 8 verses is a new letter. So this week I have been trying my own “Praisin’ through the Alphabet” I have taken a phrase like “I ______ You” and have filled in the blank with a different word in alphabetical order. Like this - I adore You; I believe You; I choose You; I delight in You and so on and so on. Some of the letters are tough - and I admit I cheat a little on X - I used I (e)xault You. Q is another tough one - I quiet myself before You. You can use more than one word to fill in the blank - but the first one has to start with the right letter. I have tried it with another phrase “You are (the)__________!” and used words that describe God. You are All-powerful! You are the Beginning and the End! You are the Chosen One! You are Divine! You are Everything to me! You quantify me; You (e)xcite me! (I don’t have a “Z” word yet in this series because I used zealous with the first phrase and I am trying not to duplicate.)(But I may have to)

And now I understand why the psalmist chose this method. You really have to focus when you do this - and your focus is on God. I loved it!

I challenge you to do this “Praisin’ thru the Alphabet” this week using one of my phrases or one of your own - and then let me know how it went. Let me know your phrase - and your favorite letter and your most challenging letter.
