e-Bible Reading Plan

I have been reading this year in Eugene Peterson’s “The Message” Reading the Beatitudes as he interprets them is really different from what I am used to. Maybe because we were raised on “Blessed are the poor in spirit.....” so that when we read “You are blessed when you are at the end of your rope” in the Message it gives a pause. But that was what I have been praying for this year as we have journeyed together - for lots of pauses when we stop to consider something new. The Beatitudes - in fact the entire Sermon on the Mount - as translated in the Message is really good. If you would like to check it out in the Message go to www.biblegateway.com, then type in Matthew 5 in the search box just above “Search The Bible” then in the box where it says New International Version use the pull down menu then select The Message. Click on the “Search The Bible” and it will take you to that chapter of Matthew. Use the arrows at the bottom of the passage to go to the next chapter.

Because we are only reading in the Newer Testament now we are reading much more at a single setting - but don’t let that stop you from reading slowly and savoring the reading of these well-known and beloved stories of our Jesus.
