We read Obadiah this week. That was a chilling book wasn’t it? I was expecting another minor prophet going off on Israel being so far from God, but instead it was a stinging prophecy against Edom for their refusal to help Israel when she was in trouble. It reminded me that people who say that the Bible isn’t relevant to today – are not reading the Bible!
Ezekiel 20:32 had a statement that just floored me – because I had never thought of false idols that way - but isn’t it the truth? “We’re going to worship gods we can make and control”
Revelation is a difficult book to read and understand – isn’t it? Everybody seems to take a position on the end times. There are the pre-tribs who believe that the rapture will occur prior to the tribulation. There are the mid-tribs who believe the rapture will occur at the mid-point of the tribulation – just before it gets really, really bad. Last, there are the post-tribs who believe that we will be raptured at the end of the tribulation – as Jesus is coming back. Each of these positions can support their position through their interpretation of scripture. I personally am a pan-trib. A pan-trib believes that God has a plan for the end times – and however it pans out – that’s how we’re going for it. A pan-trib has an easy view of the end times – we don’t get into arguments about whose scripture interpretation is the correct interpretation. But after reading this week’s chapter’s in Revelation – I am sure hoping that the pre-tribs are right!
