This past week we read one of my favorite stories Jonah. I wonder did he ever get the smell of fish out of those clothes?
Joel was a downer book wasnt it? All those locust and what they were going to do! I was getting depressed right there until the end of chapter 2 when Gods mercy to His people was again revealed Return to Me with all your hearts Amos was another sad book of judgment on Israel. Can you imagine being Amos and hearing God say that the time is ripe and He will spare Israel no more? (Chapter 8) But even then the last chapter is Gods promises of restoration. It amazes me how patient, how loving and how forgiving God is with His people of Israel. Time and time again they leave Him. Time and time again, He forgives and takes them back. Sorta reminds me of how graciously He treats me.
In the finish of 1 Timothy Paul continues to teach this young pastor even though Paul is in jail in Rome. In 2 Timothy the instruction continues along with encouragement to be faithful. Then in Titus, who is in Crete at Pauls direction to finish establishing the new-born churches, the instructions on the lifestyles of the Christ-followers continue. I particularly liked the simplicity of Titus 3:1-2 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
