e-Bible Reading

1 Kings 6 ends with Solomon completing the temple - it took him 7 years. Chapter 7 talks about Solomon’s palace in the beginning then switches back to the temple. Did you notice the odd little passage in chapter 9 (Don’t know the verses - I’m reading in the Message) about Solomon rewarding Hiram with 20 villages? Hiram was less than happy with the exchange. . In Chapter 10 the Queen of Sheba visits. And at the end of Chapter 11, we read that Solomon - so blessed of God - is worshiping idols - including the murderous Molech. Because of his idiolatry, the kingdom will soon irreparably split in two.

I have always loved to read Romans - but reading it from the Message is really great. Romans 4 when Paul talks about Abraham and the promise given to him is just amazing. Listen to this quote”We call Abraham”father” not because he got God’s attention by living like a saint, but because God made something out of Abraham when he was a nobody.” The Word is just chock full of nobodies that God made something out of. Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Peter, Matthew, Andrew, and on and on. The Kingdom of God is built by nobodies. I am glad that God uses nobodies - Here I am LORD, use me!

I know that this is coming out a little early - but I leave tomorrow for Morro Bay - won’t be back until late Monday. Have a GREAT Memorial Day weekend!
