e-Bible Reading

there is so much in Joshua to get excited about! In Chapter 2 we are introduced to Rahab, the harlot who was the only one in all of Jericho to recognize that God was with Israel and Jericho was doomed. Because of her faith, only she and her family escaped the destruction that came to Jericho. Rahab shows up again in Matthew - in the earthly lineage of Jesus. The grace of God just astounds me - that a harlot’s faith was part of the birth of Messiah! Chapter 5 tells of how the Israelites were circumcised, had Passover and started eating from the crops of the Promised Land. Once they started eating the produce of the land - the manna stopped. I think it is so cool to see how one part of God’s plan ends as another part begins And then the fall of Jericho - can you imagine the shock that went through the countryside at the news that Jericho fell flat - and without a single weapon being drawn? I think God got His point across rather effectively!

I Corinthians lead us on a study of how the Body of Christ - the Church - is supposed to behave. Paul is clear that although we are not to avoid the “company” of the world - we are not to shun those who are not Christian - but in the same breath - we are not to act like them - we are not to accept their morals as our own. Gosh, I think he was talking to us today, too!

This week we finish out Joshua and go into the Judges. Judges is a simply fascinating study of Israel’s constant unfaithfulness to God, but God’s continual faithfulness to Israel. In Judges we will see God’s words of warning in Dueteronomy be fulfilled. But not for the only time - it continues on through the history is Israel. On April 1st we will start into 2 Corinthians - I wonder if Paul’s second letter shows that there has been an improvement in the Corinth Church?
