Bible Reading - March 19 - 25, 2006
Dueteronomy 28 - the curse God would put on the Israelites if they abandoned God - was enough to scare the tar out of me - and I am reading it several thousand years after it was given! And yet, Israel strayed time and time again! As we continue to read through His Word, we will see the places in Israel’s history when this curse was brought to pass.
The first three chapters of 1 Corinthians seem to express Paul’s frustrations with the divisions within the Corinth church - and my-oh-my, the names have changes but division within the church remains. I really liked the last section of Chapter 1 where Paul talks about none of the Corinth church being among the brightest and best of society and how God chose people that the culture overlooks, exploits and abuses. I really, really liked the last verse where Paul says that if we are going to blow a horn - blow a trumpet for God. My prayer for you and for me this week is that we are the Louie Armstrong’s of trumpet blowing for God.
This week we continue in Joshua - an exciting adventure of claiming the promised land, and we stay in 1st Corinthians.
