Bible Reading - March 12 thru March 18
I noticed something interesting in Deuteronomy 1:37 when Moses is talking to the Children of Israel and tells them that the LORD was angry at him for their sakes and would not let Moses go into the promised land. Then again in Duet. 3:23-26 where he says that he begged God to let him go into the Promised Land - but that the LORD was angry at him on their account and would not listen to him. I think Moses was passing the buck on this one. If I remember right, the Israelites were indeed complaining (nothing new there - it seems like they complained every step of the way) and Father God gave Moses specific instructions on how to respond - but Moses - in his anger at them - did something different. God did not forbid Moses the Promised Land because of their sin of complaining, He denied Moses the Promised Land because Moses allowed his anger to rule his actions and he disobeyed God.
I loved reading the end of Mark - the crucifixion is always hard to read, but my spirit leaps with joy when I read of the resurrection because when Jesus rose from the dead He brought me with Him. We started Galatians this week - and I had to shake my head at Chapter 2 when I read of Peter and Paul's disagreement. I guess that church is church - whether you are in 60 AD or 2006 AD.
