e-Missions Update: Reaching Hand Society

Please find below the newsletter for Jan 2005. This is written by Mr. Laban Soren. He is my colleague and comes from the Santhal tribe. He was selected to represent India in the archery team. While at training he was not too happy with the treatment by his coach and came back to Malkangiri. While he waiting to see what to do next he came and joined RHS as a missionary and since then there has been no turning back.

He is married to Sobita (she also works with RHS) and they are blessed with a very beautiful daughter names Suman.

Laban works among the male prisoners in the morning and takes care of general administration and accounts of RHS during the rest of the day.

Dear Beloved in Christ,

Greetings in Jesus' Name.

On the morning of 18th January 2005, Ragland Remo Paul, Sopon Hembrom and I left for Chennai by road to see if we can help out in the Tsunami relief work. We reached on the 19th.

On 21st Jan 2005, Ragland Remo Paul, Sopon Hembrom, Raja Raj Sekhar, Anand and I went to Tsunami hit fishery colony called New Kalpakam. And we saw 230 families living in the Kalpakam relief camp waiting and expecting for the restoration of their normal life.

Ragland Remo Paul and Sopon Hembrom are still at Chennai to partner with other NGOs to work for the Tsunami rehabilitation work.

I am to relate that Niranjan Kuldip our staff who joined in the year 1999 and based at an interior village called Rabaguda center was married on 2nd of February 2005 and Somesh and Sandhya who were expecting their third child had a safe normal delivery. They are blessed with a baby girl. This is indeed a great joy for us.

Closing with prayers
Laban
