e-Praise & Prayers - Oct. 20, 2004

Our praying, to be strong, must be buttressed by holy living.
The life of faith perfects the prayer of faith. E.M. Bounds

“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God.” Romans 12:1

I don’t know about you but I am loving our weather. I love the rain and the way that it cleans up our air. I came out of work this afternoon to a sun-filled sky and a sky so blue it almost hurt my eyes. I hope that the clouds hold back tonight long enough for the stars to come out - it has been so song since the night sky has been filled with stars. In the daily hustle and bustle of our lives - and with the mask of pollution - I forget just how beautiful our world is.

There is nothing I love more than the opportunity to praise God in a corporate body setting. This upcoming Sonday (October 24th) we will get that opportunity as we celebrate our God in a Night of Praise. The praise is gonna get to going at 6:00 p.m. But wait - it gets even better! The only thing this Baptist woman loves more than a night of praise is a night of praise with food! Right after the praising is over (in that setting) we will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall for some fellowship and refreshments!

Anna Gossen is back in Fresno - and her mom is doing well after her surgery. Anna is with us until the 26th - then she is on her way back to Germany.

Little Marisela now weighs 3 lbs, 12 oz. She is continuing to progress well.

Ray Callahan is doing much better - but now his daughter Karen is abed with the flu! Let’s keep both of them in prayer for a quick recovery.

We have a prayer request for a friend of the Hitches. Diana Ammon and her family are new Christians who attend Bryan & Terri’s church in Columbus Ohio. Diana is the mother of four children who are in their late teens - early twentys. A recent chest x-ray has shown some spots on Diana lungs and the doctor has said that he suspects they are lung cancer. Please pray for Diana & her family as they deal with this prognosis.

Little 2 year old Patrick is home now - but is still going back and forth to Valley Childrens. He is not reacting well to the Chemo. His little hands are still curled up - but the prognosis for them relaxing is good.

I have a prayer request for a friend of mine. My friend going through some difficult times and just needs a touch of guidance and comfort from Father.

Please continue to keep the following in prayer - Chuck Johnson and his continuing health problems, Julie & her mom with their broken bones; 2 yr old Brandon with his leukemia, Lois Winters and her cancer, John Roberts with his cancer and his need for a relationship with Jesus, Jim Hildman and his radiation treatments, Bill Clem and his shoulder, Lillian Seward’s continued recovery, Ray Rahn, Jr with his kidney dialysis, Evelyn Hayhurst with her cancer, Peggy Molander as she undergoes physical therapy, Lois & Dan Hansen and new job for Dan, Cheryl Balestra as she continues her cancer treatments, and Robert Kammer with his sleep apnea. If you have any updates - please send them on.

Please continue to pray for all of our missionaries - Laurie Bethall & Simon in Prague, Judy, Faye & Miisaw as they work at the New Life Center in Thailand, The Reaching Hand Society in India, Dr. George Pe Myat and the hospital in the Congo, Bounkham & Khamla’s mission to Laos, Jan & Larry Martin in Thailand, and all the missionaries worldwide.

Please continue to pray for the church plants - The Rock Christian Church at Rio Mesa has undergone a name change. The new name of the church is Flipside Christian Church. This new name reflects their desire to be the flipside of traditional religion and goes along with their motto of “A little less religion - a little more relationship.” Please continue to pray for both the Flipside Christian Church and the Life House Christian Church.

Please continue to keep our upcoming event - the Trunk or Treat - in your prayers. Please contact Marva Ward or Chris Aycock if you can supply candy, funding or a car trunk to this exciting event. Flyers on the event have gone out a mile in each direction from the church - so we are expecting a bunch of kids!

Remember to lift our pastors high before God. October is “Pastor Appreciation Month” so now is a good time to drop our pastors a note of encouragement and thankfulness for all they do for us. Please continue to pray for our leadership, our ministries and our finances.

Pray for our country, her leadership and our military based at home and abroad.

Alpha & Omega,

To be with You, to be in Your presence is what we long for. Fill us up with Your Light and let us shine for You.

Thank You for bringing Anna safely back to us for a visit. Continue to bless her while she is with us and continue to heal her mother as she recovers from surgery.

Father we thank You and praise You for the continuing good news on baby Marisela. Please continue to bless her so that she will soon be able to go home.

We continue to pray for Ray & Karen that You will quickly restore their health.

Great Healer, we lift up Diana Ammon and her family as they deal with the possibility of her having lung cancer. Hold them close to Your heart and give them strength during this time. LORD God, nothing is impossible for You and so we ask that Diana be restored to full health.

Lord, continue to touch little Patrick with Your love and Your healing hand. Bring his little hands back to normal and help him with the chemo.

Abba, I lift my friend before You and ask that You guide in this situation. Bless my friend and give Your comfort.

Holy Spirit, we call out for Your presence to be in each of the situations that we have been praying for. Continue to move in these lives.

LORD Jesus, we pray in agreement and ask that You protect the missionaries who serve You around the world. Many of them, LORD, serve You faithfully - even as they know that they are in danger from radicals. Grant them comfort and courage. We pray for the Reaching Hand Society, for Jan & Larry Martin, For Laurie Bethall and Simon, for the New Life Center in Thailand and the women who serve You there, for Dr. George in the Congo and for Bounkham and Khamla as they serve the people of Laos.

Glorious God, Mighty God, we praise Your name forever and ever.

LORD of All, we lift before you our pastors and ask that You abundantly bless them. Help us to always support them and show them how much we love and honor them. Holy Father, we lift our leadership, our ministries and our finances before You knowing that if we are faithful to You Your promise is that You will open the storehouses of Heaven. Pour Your blessings upon Your Church.

Just and Righteous LORD, we lift our country to You and ask that You forgive her from turning away from You. Bring her back to You. Guide our leaders to make decisions that are in agreement with Your will. Bless our military that serves us around the world, and keep them safe.

You are the Light of the world and we praise You for the Light. You are the Light of our lives and we thank You for loving us with an everlasting love. We will love You forever.
